The
second workshop of 'Seed of Nature' was held on 10th-11th of November
2006. Totally 13 teachers joined this workshop held in Island House
Conservation Studies Centre and Mai Po Nature Reserve.
The
program began with the demonstration of educational resources in Island
House Conservation Studies Centre, which is one of our WWF education
centres. After that the teachers participated in an orienteering
activity about the life cycle of a butterfly in Tai Po Waterfront Park.
The Insect Museum was also visited as part of the program.
In
mid-night, the teachers visited a fish pond in Tai Sang Wai in Yuen
Long to experience the fish collection in the pond by fishermen and
understand the management and ecological importance of fish ponds in
Deep Bay.
On the second day, teachers went to the Mai
Po Nature Reserve to observe different wildlife and enjoy the natural
beauty of wetland. Our Education Officer also demonstrated different
kinds of primary school education activities with teachers. At the end
of workshop, Miss Katie Flowers, our guest artist, demonstrated the use
of nature materials in drawings. The workshop ended with a fruitful
educational and art experience in wetland.
